Quentin Fillon Maillet of France won gold in the Men’s 10km Sprint at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics on Saturday, finishing in a time of 22:53.1 with a clean shooting record. The victory comes after he did not successfully defend his Olympic 20km Individual title earlier this week.

Fillon Maillet established his lead at the 2.9km mark, approaching the prone shooting stage, and then navigated both shooting rounds with precision. This marks the fourth Olympic gold medal of his career.

The race for the remaining medals proved to be a tightly contested affair. Norway’s Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen secured the silver medal, finishing 13.7 seconds behind Fillon Maillet, also with a clean shooting performance. This is Christiansen’s second individual Olympic medal, following a bronze in the Mass Start event at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Just seconds behind Christiansen, his Norwegian teammate, Sturla Holm Laegreid, claimed the bronze medal, completing the course 15.9 seconds slower than the gold medalist. Laegreid also maintained a clean shooting record throughout the sprint.

France’s Emilien Jacquelin, also shooting flawlessly, finished a close fourth, just 0.2 seconds behind Laegreid. Sweden’s Sebastian Samuelsson, with a clean shooting performance, finished fifth, 25 seconds off the pace, mirroring his result in the 2022 Olympic Sprint. Norway’s Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, incurring two penalties, finished sixth, 43 seconds behind Fillon Maillet.
