ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats baseball team begins a new era Friday, February 13, with the start of a three-game series against Murray State in Carbondale, Illinois, under the direction of first-year head coach Andrew Notice.

See, appointed as the 11th head coach of Ohio baseball in June 2025, comes to the program after serving as the associate head coach and pitching coach at Liberty University for the 2024-25 season, according to the university. He emphasized the importance of consistent competition as the Bobcats embark on the 2026 campaign. “I expect our guys to proceed out there and compete. I’m going to use that word quite a bit this year,” See said. “I expect us to play with a winning mindset… I want our guys to have that belief that we’re going to be good. I think we’re in a good place right now, and I’m curious to see, for the first weekend, win or lose, how we can keep that even-keeled mindset through the year.”

The Bobcats’ roster reflects a significant overhaul, incorporating 17 incoming transfers and 11 true freshmen alongside a core of returning players. Key returners on the pitching staff include sophomore lefty Hunter Winston and senior left-hander Dillon Masters, both of whom made more than seven starts for Ohio last season. Offensively, redshirt junior infielder Cam Bryant returns after hitting .303 across 38 games in the previous season.

See highlighted several newcomers expected to contribute immediately, including junior outfielder Taylor Harris (Walters State Community College), graduate student first baseman Colton Shirley (Purdue Fort Wayne), and junior left-handed pitcher Aidan Cook (Xavier). “There are some exciting guys on the team that don’t have a lot of body work, which is interesting for us to see, but the talents there, if they can keep the right mindset and not get too high and too low,” See said.

The Bobcats’ schedule includes a February 27 home opener against in-state rival Dayton. Midweek nonconference matchups are scheduled against Pittsburgh on March 4, Marshall on March 31 and April 29, and Michigan on May 12. A three-game series against Miami is slated to begin April 10. MAC play begins at home against Northern Illinois on March 6.

“I want this team to make their own identity moving forward,” See stated. “I think we’re in a good spot, and I think they understand what this program is capable of.”
