San Diego: Texas Street Northbound Closure for Storm Damage Repair

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Northbound lanes of Texas Street in San Diego will be closed between Adams Avenue and Camino del Rio South beginning Friday at 8 p.m. For emergency repairs to a stormwater channel and embankment stabilization, the city announced Thursday.

The closure is scheduled to remain in effect until Saturday at 10 a.m., according to a city statement. The repairs are being prioritized due to a forecast of wet weather next week, officials said.

Crews will be working to reinforce the embankment and prevent further erosion, the city stated. Northbound traffic will be diverted to the Interstate 805 northbound on-ramp via nearby side streets. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and, if possible, avoid the area overnight.

The City of San Diego Stormwater Department can be contacted to report stormwater pollution, including over-irrigation, landscaping waste, and wash water, via the Get it Done app, by calling 619-235-1000, or by emailing swppp@sandiego.gov.

San Diego County residents can report issues with County storm drainage systems to the Department of Public Works Field Operations staff at (619) 443-1260 on weekdays, or contact the Stormwater Hotline at 1 (888) 846-0800. After-hours emergencies can be reported to (858) 565-5262.
