Kimbal Musk’s Relationship with Epstein-Linked Woman Revealed in DOJ Files
Emails released by the Department of Justice reveal that Jeffrey Epstein orchestrated an intimate relationship between Kimbal Musk, brother of Elon Musk and a Tesla board member, and a woman in his network between 2012 and 2013. The correspondence details Epstein and his associate, Boris Nikolic, actively working to connect Musk with the woman, and subsequently receiving updates on their relationship.
The emails display Nikolic urging Epstein to “prepare” the woman before a birthday party Musk was hosting. Following a lunch at Epstein’s Manhattan apartment, Musk emailed Epstein and Nikolic, expressing gratitude for the introduction: “Jeffrey and Boris, many thanks for connecting me with [the woman]. I believe you both played a role. :)”. Throughout the six-month relationship, the woman reportedly forwarded personal messages from Musk to Epstein, seeking guidance, though there is no indication Musk was aware of this backchannel communication.
The woman, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, has, through her lawyer, stated she was “trapped, coerced and abused” by Epstein while involved with his circle. Attempts to reach the woman and her legal counsel for comment were unsuccessful. A request for comment sent to Nikolic through his venture capital firm also went unanswered.
Kimbal Musk responded to the revelations on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “In 2012 I started dating a woman who was 30 years ancient. I met her through a friend. Epstein did not introduce us. My only meeting with that demon was in his New York office during the day. I never met with him again and I never went to his island.” He further claimed the volume of emails from Epstein was due to his practice of sending a newsletter to thousands of recipients, and expressed sympathy for Epstein’s victims.
However, the released emails depict a more extensive relationship than Musk acknowledged. The correspondence coincides with a period when Epstein appeared to be cultivating connections with both Kimbal and Elon Musk, extending invitations to his island and leveraging personal connections. In September 2012, Nikolic informed Epstein of Musk’s birthday plans, suggesting Epstein and the woman accompany Musk to his party. Nikolic even proposed that Musk “ditch his ex/or current” for the woman.
Following his birthday, Musk emailed Nikolic about a successful party and invited Epstein and his associates to a more formal celebration. He also initiated plans for a lunch with Epstein, expressing a desire to meet. Subsequent emails reveal a playful exchange about coordinating Halloween costumes and Musk’s gratitude for the introduction to the woman. Musk’s email on October 7th reads, “Great to hang out today. Jeffrey and Boris, many thanks for connecting me with [the woman]. I believe you both played a role. :)”. Nikolic responded, cautioning Musk to “be nice” to the woman, as she was one of Epstein’s “girls.”
Musk then invited the woman to join him on a trip to London for a birthday party hosted by Talulah Riley, who was then married to Elon Musk. The woman forwarded the invitation to Epstein, who offered suggestions for their travel plans, including a potential visit to his private island. Around April 2013, Musk emailed the woman, suggesting they revert to a casual dating arrangement, citing his inability to commit to a serious relationship. The woman then forwarded Musk’s email to Epstein, seeking advice. Epstein responded by demanding to grasp her location and suggesting she visit his ranch.
The release of these emails follows a 2020 report by Business Insider, citing anonymous sources, which claimed Epstein had facilitated the relationship between Musk and the woman, and that the woman had previously resided in an apartment owned by Epstein’s brother. The sources indicated the relationship appeared genuine, but Epstein viewed it as a means to gain access to the Musk family.
Kimbal Musk’s ties to Epstein have drawn scrutiny, particularly given his prominent positions as a Tesla board member, shareholder in SpaceX – recently valued at $1.5 trillion – and founder of the food education non-profit Big Green. He recently stepped down from the board of the Burning Man festival following the release of the documents. Elon Musk’s own communications with Epstein, previously reported, have also faced scrutiny, with the tech mogul attempting to distance himself from Epstein as someone he actively avoided.
The Justice Department released over 3 million pages of documents related to Epstein last month, following the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November. The documents continue to be analyzed for connections to other high-profile individuals.
