Separately, a major infrastructure project in County Mayo has faced delays and cost overruns, as reported by Midwest Radio in August 2025. The project, intended to improve connectivity and transportation, encountered unforeseen ground conditions, pushing back the completion date and increasing expenses. Negotiations with contractors and suppliers are ongoing to secure additional funding.
