Texas Mother Loses 3 Sons in Frozen Pond Tragedy

A Huntsville, Alabama mother, Cheyenne Hangaman, is grieving the loss of three of her sons – EJ, 9, Kaleb, 8, and Howard, 6 – who drowned after falling through the ice on a frozen pond on January 27, 2026. The incident occurred at a private pond near their home,according to WAAY 31 News.

Authorities responded to a call around 3:30 PM CST and recovered the bodies of the three boys. Huntsville Fire and Rescue divers were on the scene, facing challenging conditions due to the ice thickness and water temperature. AL.com reports that the pond was located in the 1900 block of Jeff Road.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deaths and stated that the cause of death was drowning. No foul play is suspected. WAFF 48 detailed the swift response from emergency services, but sadly, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
