The Eagles performed at Sphere on January 24th without Joe Walsh, who was sidelined by the flu. This marked the first time the band played a show without him since he joined in 1975. Don Henley addressed the audience, explaining they could have canceled, but instead chose to perform. “we came down here this afternoon and had an emergency rehearsal for two hours. And fortunately, in this band, we have a deep bench,” he said.
Deacon Frey and Vince Gill covered Walsh’s parts. Specifically, frey, who joined the Eagles in 2017 after his father’s passing, played walsh’s famous guitar solo during “Hotel California” wiht new guitarist Chase McBride.
