TOLEDO, Ohio — Vice President JD Vance, previewing a trip to minneapolis to meet with Immigration adn Customs Enforcement officers and community members amid rising tensions, said Thursday his goal is to “turn down the chaos” and project calm.
He strongly reinforced President Donald Trump’s stance that democrats in Minneapolis are hindering ICE operations and fostering an environment that encourages disruptive protests.
“if you disagree… that’s okay, make your case,” Vance said, responding to a reporter’s question during an event promoting the White House’s economic policies. “But do it at the ballot box. Write an opinion piece, debate it online.Don’t attack federal law enforcement officers simply because you oppose our administration’s policies. It’s timid and unacceptable, and it needs to end.”
These comments came before Vance’s scheduled roundtable discussion and speech in Minneapolis, where a federal officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, 37, earlier this month. trump, Vance, and other administration officials have claimed, without providing definitive proof, that Good was linked to left-wing protesters and posed a threat to officers as she drove away.
