Oklahoma State Men’s Tennis Sweeps Saint Louis 7‑0 in Opening Weekend Shutout

STILLWATER – ​ Oklahoma State’s ‍men’s tennis‍ team ⁤completed its opening weekend with a 7-0 victory over Saint Louis on‍ Monday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

The originally scheduled doubleheader with Oral‍ Roberts was ⁢postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and⁣ will be rescheduled.

The Cowboys now stand at⁢ 3-0, having won all ⁢three weekend matches with a combined ⁣score of 21-0.This marks the ​first ⁢time ⁣as 2003 that Oklahoma State has⁣ begun a season with three consecutive 7-0 wins. ‌It’s also the second time in the first‌ three matches that every Cowboy secured​ a‌ straight-set victory in singles play.

Doubles play saw OSU junior ‍ Nicolas Kobelt and senior Alex Mehl ‌defeat Louis Pradier and Kyle Fletcher 6-3. The duo of Ben Stokes and Max Acuña won their match against Juan ​Etcheverry and Oliver Mesritz ⁢6-4. ‌ Joaquin Huber and Antoine Bloyer rounded out doubles play with a 6-3 win over Pedro Garcia and Niklas ‌Jung.

In singles⁣ action,Kobelt defeated Etcheverry 6-2,6-4. Mehl won his​ match ​against Jung ​6-3, 6-2.​ Acuña defeated Pradier 6-3,⁤ 6-4. Stokes took down‍ Fletcher 6-4, 6-3. Huber beat Garcia 6-2, 6-4, and Bloyer completed the sweep⁤ with a 6-3, 6-4‌ victory over Mesritz.

the ‍Cowboys will be ⁢back ‌in action‌ on Febuary 9th when they travel to take on Dartmouth.
