Sanremo Festival Spot Filmed in Rome: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes
The sounds of Andrea Bocelli’s “con te partirò” filled Piazza di Spagna as filming began for the Rai’s promotional spot, “Tutti cantano Sanremo,” for the 76th Sanremo Music Festival, scheduled for February 24th to 28th. Romans and tourists alike enthusiastically joined in, singing along with artistic director Carlo Conti and an accompanying orchestra.
Conti Leads the Sing-Along

He offered vocal guidance to those attempting to sing Bocelli’s iconic song, the chosen tune for the promotional spot. Rai council member Simona Agnes distributed lyric sheets for “Con te partirò,” as well as for “Nel blu dipinto di blu” and “Volevo essere un duro.” When pressed for festival announcements, Conti playfully deflected, stating, “Today, we’re here to sing!” He jokingly added that if the Romans struggled with Bocelli’s song, they might switch to “Roma non fa la stupida stasera.”

He firmly dismissed the reports as “fantasy,” emphasizing the collaborative relationship between the Entertainment and Genre Coordination departments, while reaffirming that the Sanremo Festival traditionally falls under the purview of Prime Time Entertainment.

Di Liberatore downplayed any potential competition with the show “The Wheel of Fortune,” asserting that Sanremo is a national institution and a vital part of Italy’s cultural heritage. He expressed confidence in the festival’s enduring appeal and hoped for no direct clash in scheduling.

Regarding anticipated viewership,Di Liberatore acknowledged the unique circumstances of this year’s festival,which follows the Olympics and occurs later in February than usual. This shift could possibly impact the audience. However, he emphasized that Carlo Conti is aiming to surpass last year’s record-breaking numbers. He highlighted Conti’s work in creating a balanced and high-quality festival focused on showcasing beautiful songs, and expressed optimism about the festival’s success.
