BMO Branch Optimization Puts Branch Access in Focus

California consumer banking coverage now includes a spotlight on BMO’s branch optimization strategy. BMO announced it will sell 138 U.S. branches to First Citizens Bank & Trust Company.

However, BMO also plans to open 150 new branches over the next five years, positioning this expansion as California-centric. Customers have been advised to continue using their existing checks,cards,branches,and online access until branch closures occur.

Sierra Grant Milestone Tracks Local Funding

Coverage also highlights Bank of the Sierra’s Sierra Grant Program reaching a meaningful milestone. The program has now distributed over $5 million in donations since its inception in 2004, awarding more than 1,900 grants.

In the second and third quarters of 2025 alone, the bank donated $315,000, wiht a detailed regional breakdown of the funds.
