Julia Roberts showcased a surprising skill-fluent Italian translation-at teh 2025 Gotham Awards on December 1, delighting the audience with a playful bit alongside filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The actress and director were jointly honored with the Visionary Award for their collaboration on the psychological thriller After the Hunt.
After Paul Rudd presented the award, Roberts announced she would act as Guadagnino’s interpreter, despite the director having already delivered his speech in English. She proceeded to translate his remarks into Italian, line by line. “Thank you gotham Awards,” Guadagnino stated, followed by roberts repeating the phrase in Italian.
