LOS‌ ANGELES, CA – Margot Robbie is confidently backing her Wuthering Heights co-star, ‌Jacob elordi, and imploring audiences to reserve judgment on his portrayal of Heathcliff untill the film’s⁢ release. Robbie,‍ who plays Cathy in Emerald Fennell’s adaptation ‌of the Emily Brontë classic, offered a strong endorsement of Elordi’s talent during a recent interview with Vogue, comparing him to acting legend Daniel Day-Lewis.

The upcoming film has already generated buzz, particularly ⁤surrounding‍ Elordi’s casting, as he follows in the footsteps of renowned actors like⁢ Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, ralph Fiennes, and ⁣Tom ⁣Hardy who have previously⁣ embodied the‍ iconic, brooding ⁢character. The ⁣film’s director,Emerald Fennell, was herself inspired ⁤to ⁣pursue the project after seeing Elordi in costume for Saltburn, immediately recognizing him as her ⁤vision ⁣for Heathcliff. ‌ The anticipation builds as Elordi himself ⁢had‌ considered taking a break from acting before Fennell presented him‍ with the⁤ role.

Robbie stated, “I‍ saw him ⁢play Heathcliff. ⁢And he is Heathcliff.I’d say, just ⁤wait. Trust me, you’ll be happy.” She further‌ elaborated, ”To be a part of that is special. He’s incredible and I believe in him so much. I⁤ honestly think he’s our ⁣generation’s ⁤Daniel Day-Lewis.”

Fennell also addressed the decision⁢ to ⁤age up Robbie’s Cathy,⁤ positioning her closer to her 20s rather than adhering ⁤to the novel’s original depiction. The director described Cathy ⁣as a “star” possessing a captivating blend of wilfulness,⁣ cruelty, and provocation, requiring an actress with ⁣”supersized star power” – qualities‌ she believes Robbie ‌embodies,‌ possessing what she termed “big dick⁤ energy.”

Beyond Wuthering⁤ Heights,Robbie is reportedly in‌ discussions to produce ⁤and star in Tim ⁢Burton’s remake of ⁢ Attack Of The Fifty Foot Woman. A ⁣release date for Wuthering Heights ⁤ has not‌ yet‌ been ⁢announced.
