Westminster Abbey was filled with music and goodwill last night as Catherine, Princess of Wales, hosted the annual “Together at Christmas“ carol concert, bringing together stars and individuals dedicated to supporting communities.
the concert,a festivity of those who have gone above and beyond to help others,highlights the importance of connection and support during the festive season and beyond. This year’s event showcased both established performers and inspiring individuals working tirelessly for charitable causes.
Among the attendees was nine-year-old Saphia Turner, the BBC’s Make a Difference Young Hero Award winner, recognized for her fundraising efforts for food banks through artwork sales and sponsored challenges. Also present was jack Mortimer, a 102-year-old D-Day veteran.
Musical performances included Katie Melua’s rendition of “White Christmas,” Dan Smith singing “O Holy Night,” and Zac Abel performing “Silent night.” Choristers from Westminster Abbey closed the program with a stirring performance of “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.” A unique performance came from the Cornish sea shanty group, Fisherman’s Friends, who sang their version of “I Saw Three Ships” in front of a large nativity scene set in the abbey’s center.
Eleven-year-old Eliza, sister to one of the performers, shared her excitement, stating, “I never thought I’d be able to play there in front of so many crucial people.” She added, “everyone should have a chance to play music.”
Guests, representing a wide range of ages and including carers and charity representatives, enjoyed a hot chocolate on the cold London night after the performances. many had travelled significant distances to attend the event.
The “Together at Christmas” carol concert will be televised and shown on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
