tallinn, Estonia – Two Optibet Hockey League (OHL) games scheduled for this weekend have been canceled due to a flu outbreak within the Tallinn “Panter” team. The Latvian teams “Zemgale/LBTU” and Riga HS were slated to compete against “Panter” on december 6th and 7th, respectively, but those matches have been postponed.
The Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) announced they will announce rescheduled dates soon.
Currently, Kyiv “Capitals” leads the OHL standings with 36 points from 20 games played.”Liepāja hockey team” holds 34 points in 22 matches,followed closely by ”Mogo/RSU” with 33 points in 21 games and “Zemgale/LBTU” with 32 points in 20 games.
Other team standings include riga “prizma” (20 points in 19 games), Tallinn ”Panter” (13 points in 22 games), Elektrēni “Energija” (9 points in 16 games), Vilnius ”Hockey Punks” (7 points), and riga Hockey School (5 points in 18 games).
The OHL playoff winner will be crowned Baltic champion, while the highest-placing teams from Latvia and Lithuania will be declared national champions. This season features a five-round tournament with each team playing 40 regular-season matches – the most since the 2007/2008 Latvian Super League Championship. The top six teams will qualify for the playoffs.
Last season,”Mogo/RSU” won the championship,defeating “Zemgale/LBTU” 4-1 in the final series.
