Dunkirk,France – December 4,2025 – Construction ⁣is ‍underway on the ⁣”Ruban Vert” (Green⁤ Ribbon) project,a large-scale urban ⁣advancement poised to deliver ‍12,000 new housing units to Dunkirk ‌over the next decade. Work commenced in September 2024, wiht structural elements beginning ​in November of the same year, marking a significant⁣ step​ in addressing the region’s growing housing needs.

The initiative, a‌ collaboration between Linkcity‌ (representing sia Habitat), ⁤Tonus Territoires,⁤ and CDC Habitat, ​aims to‍ transform the area between the Bourbourg canal⁢ and Avenue de la Villette into a vibrant, enduring community. Beyond⁢ residential spaces, the plan incorporates extensive outdoor amenities including public squares, playgrounds, walking paths, bicycle parking, and​ innovative silo parking solutions. The project’s‍ meaning lies in its scale and commitment to modern‍ environmental standards, promising to reshape a key section of Dunkirk while prioritizing ecological⁣ responsibility.

Bouygues Bâtiment Nord-Est is leading the construction, with a core focus on minimizing the ​project’s carbon footprint and maximizing resource efficiency. The development is targeting RE2020 energy performance standards and BEE+ certification, ⁤demonstrating a‌ dedication to high-quality, environmentally conscious building practices.

The architectural ⁤design is a​ joint effort by BLAU Architecture,​ TAG Atelier d’Architecture, ‍Profil Ingénierie, and Land. The Green Ribbon project represents a considerable investment in Dunkirk’s future,anticipating and responding to the increasing demand for housing in the area.
