Bucks Rally to Defeat Pistons Amidst Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury Concern
Milwaukee, WI – December 4, 2025 - The Milwaukee Bucks secured a hard-fought comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons Wednesday night, but the win was overshadowed by a frightening injury to superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.Antetokounmpo collapsed to the floor during the game, immediately raising concerns, though the team has as ruled out an Achilles injury.
The Bucks, already navigating a stretch without their leading scorer due to a left adductor strain, overcame a deficit to defeat the Eastern conference-leading Pistons. Milwaukee had previously lost all four games Antetokounmpo had missed wiht the adductor injury, though two where closely contested. Wednesday’s win demonstrated the team’s ability to secure a victory in a tight game even without their star player.
“Either you come together as a unit and you figure out a way to reel it in for him or the air gets sucked and we can’t come back from it,” said Bucks guard Pat Connaughton. “And I think Giannis woudl be proud of us that we were able to come back and finish the game and get a win for him.”
The victory came after a team meeting held earlier Wednesday, prompted by a disappointing loss to the Washington Wizards on Monday. Forward Bobby Portis explained the meeting’s purpose was to refocus the team.
“Just trying to keep guys’ minds right, keep guys together, that’s a big thing in the league,” Portis said. “Obviously, everybody wants to get paid, everybody has different motives, whatever it is. Just making sure that we’re together, right? And then, most importantly, understanding that we have to get a win. No matter how we get it. If it’s ugly, if it’s good, if we’re knocking down shots, whatever it is, the most vital thing was to win.”
The win also arrived amidst ongoing trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks. Players were rapid to dismiss the speculation and reaffirm their belief in Antetokounmpo’s commitment to Milwaukee.
“I’ll just say this: There’s a lot of outside noise, that’s just what comes with it,” Connaughton stated. “And Giannis does a great job of assuring (us) that he’s wanting to be here with this group specifically. So, we ain’t even worried about all the outside noise. That’s my brother and I’m sure if it was something he would come to us, but he’s with us and we’re gonna hold it down until he’s ready.”
Teammate Green echoed that sentiment, saying, “We certainly know GA. We certainly know he’s here for us.He loves the city. He loves the team. We love him. We’re gonna play for him. He’s gonna play for us.So, people are going to say whatever, outside noise, but we know what it is inside this locker room and the relationship we got and the team we got, so we’re just gonna continue to run with that and trust it.”
While a definitive diagnosis of Antetokounmpo’s injury remains pending, the team has confirmed it is not an Achilles injury. The timeline for his return remains uncertain. Following the game, Antetokounmpo was the first player to congratulate the team on their win via the team’s group chat, demonstrating his continued support and leadership.
