Seoul Snow Forecast: Heavy Snow and Cold Wave Expected

Seoul to Receive first Snowfall ‌as Cold Wave Persists

Seoul residents should prepare for the first snowfall of the season this⁣ Thursday,‌ as a ⁢persistent cold wave⁣ continues ⁣to grip the nation. the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) ⁢forecasts heavy snow will begin ⁣falling in the Seoul⁣ metropolitan area and the eastern province of Gangwon from the afternoon onwards.

Temperatures plummeted overnight, with Seoul recording a morning low of minus 9 degrees Celsius. The KMA predicts ​accumulations of 1 to 5⁢ centimeters of snow‍ across the Seoul area from the afternoon through the ⁣night.​ Similar​ snowfall ​amounts are anticipated in Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, and the‌ northern regions of North chungcheong Province.

Northern areas of Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces are expected to⁢ see the most meaningful accumulations, with predicted snowfall ranging from 3 ‌to 8 centimeters. Southern provinces, along‍ with Jeju and Ulleung islands, may receive around 1 centimeter of snow before Friday morning.

As of thursday morning,a cold wave⁢ advisory ‌remains in effect for eastern and northern⁣ Gyeonggi Province,and western Gangwon Province. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions against the cold​ and potential ‌travel disruptions.

The ​KMA indicates that temperatures will remain below average⁣ on Friday. However, a warming⁢ trend is expected to begin on Saturday, with temperatures returning to or exceeding ⁣seasonal averages.
