Wreaths to Honor Missouri Veterans at Six state Cemeteries This December
JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Volunteers will gather at six Missouri Veterans Cemeteries this December to participate in Wreaths Across America, a national program honoring the service and sacrifice of U.S. military personnel. The annual event, scheduled for December 16th, aims to place wreaths on the graves of every veteran interred at these locations, ensuring their memory is honored during the holiday season.
This year’s wreath-laying builds upon a tradition started in 2006 by the Maine Veterans Memorial Association, which initially provided wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. The program has since expanded nationwide, with individuals and organizations sponsoring wreaths for placement at veterans’ cemeteries across the country. The Missouri Veterans Commission coordinates the event at its six cemeteries and the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, offering a poignant tribute to those who served.
