Turtle Canyon Comedy Launches New Gameshow, “Is it A Bone?”
LOS ANGELES, CA – october 26, 2023 – Independent comedy production company Turtle Canyon Comedy (known for content on Repertoire and Netflix) today announced the launch of its latest panel show, “Is It A Bone?” The vexing new gameshow challenges some of the UK’s funniest comedians to identify – or misidentify – everyday objects as bones.
The show, described as a more physical and maddening take on “Carrot In A Box,” tests contestants across all five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. The final round poses the ultimate question: “Am I thinking of a bone?”
Hosted by comedian Sam Lake, the inaugural season features Alison Spittle, Jordan Brookes, Daman Bamrah, Sikisa, Huge Davies, and Marjolein Robertson, alongside a new character, The BoneDropper.Rounds range from straightforward visual identification to complex bluffing scenarios, with the taste round leaving everything to the contestants’ bravery.
“Is It A Bone?” is the brainchild of director and creator Stuart laws, a veteran comedy producer and director who has worked with netflix, HBO, Prime, Sky & BBC. Laws is also known for his appearances on podcasts like ’Off Menu’ and ‘Films To Be Buried With,’ as well as regular radio spots on BBC Radio and RadioX. He created the cult comedy shows Comedians Beer Mat Flipping Championship and The Michael Caine Never Show, and has performed stand-up on the BBC and acted in BAFTA-winning series Such brave Girls (Hulu & BBC), Patience (Channel 4), and Play Time (ITV).
Turtle Canyon Comedy provides a platform for comedians to create the content they want to make. The company’s YouTube channel showcases a decade of independent comedy hits, including James Acaster’s documentary Sweet Home Ketteringa; Just Puddings with James Acaster and Ed Gamble; Ian Smith’s travel show Hope You Come Up Here; a sketch collaboration with The Daily Tism; and projects featuring Nish Kumar, Aisling Bea, Joel Dommett, Lou Sanders, Tom Allen, suzi Ruffell, Harriet Kemsley, Kat Sadler, and Jess Fostekew.
