New Comic Mini-Series to Reimagine ‘phantom of the Opera‘
Los Angeles, CA – A chilling new take on a classic tale is on the horizon. Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, today announced Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera, a four-issue limited comic book series. The series will feature the creative team of Tyler Boss (You’ll Do Bad Things) and Martin Simmonds (Universal Monsters: Dracula, The Department of Truth).
Set within the iconic Paris Opera House, the comic reimagines the story of the Phantom. The official synopsis details a narrative where a young soprano, Christine, faces career turmoil amidst a wave of violent crimes. As she prepares for a performance, Christine uncovers unsettling truths and a mysterious connection to the enigmatic figure known as the Phantom. An old friend’s inquiry further complicates matters, revealing that appearances are deceiving.
“What separates the Phantom of the Opera from the other Universal monsters is that it’s the only ghost story of the lot,” explained writer Tyler Boss. “With the Paris Opera House as our haunted site, and a production of Faust about to be performed, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect collaborator to breathe life into the Phantom of the Opera than Martin Simmonds.”
Diegs Lopez, Senior Editor at Skybound, praised the collaboration, stating, “Tyler Boss and martin Simmonds have crafted a beautifully horrific tale in their exploration of The Phantom of the Opera filled with grit, tension, and all the makings of an operatic nightmare. It’s been a joy to see thes two storytellers retell this story in a way that I don’t think fans have ever experienced but will be sure to devour.”
Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the opera is scheduled for release in February 2026.
