Feyenoord‌ Midfielder⁣ Quinten ⁤Timber Faces Fan Backlash Amid ‍Contract Impasse

Rotterdam,Netherlands – Feyenoord⁤ midfielder Quinten Timber is facing increasing hostility⁤ from the club’s⁢ supporters as his contract nears expiration, with fans‍ openly⁤ expressing their discontent during recent matches. The situation, described as a “bomb” by ‌observers, raises questions about Timber’s future with the Rotterdam club and ⁣the potential for ⁤a transfer in the upcoming winter window.

The growing frustration stems⁤ from‍ Timber’s prolonged contract negotiations and ⁣the likelihood of a free transfer departure. ‍Interest from Bayer‌ Leverkusen surfaced ⁣last summer, but a move failed to materialize, and⁣ talks⁢ regarding an extension have stalled. While both Timber and Feyenoord technical‌ director Dennis te‍ Kloese have publicly ⁤stated a desire to discuss ‌a new deal, no progress‍ has been announced, fueling‍ speculation and fan anger.

According ⁢to reports from the NOS‌ Football Podcast, supporters have begun to actively whistle Timber during games, even when his performance isn’t demonstrably poor. ⁤”I really had the feeling on Thursday…that it was grating,” noted Jeroen Stekelenburg, referencing the home ‍game against Celtic in the Europa League. Reporter‌ Arman Avsaroglu stated, “The audience…doesn’t want⁢ anything⁣ from him anymore. They are completely done with him. They don’t like him at all.”

The expiring contract, valued ⁢at an ‌estimated €25.8M with ⁣a range of €23.2M ⁢- €28.3M, leaves Feyenoord at risk of ⁢losing a key‍ player without a transfer fee. Avsaroglu suggests a winter transfer woudl be beneficial for all parties,⁢ allowing⁢ the club‍ to recoup some value and Timber to escape a possibly difficult ‌final six months. Manager Robin van‍ Persie has acknowledged ⁢ongoing contract discussions with multiple ‌players, but⁣ the⁣ Timber situation remains unresolved.
