WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump said Sunday he woudl allow the release of results from an MRI scan he underwent in October, responding to recent questions about his health raised by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Trump, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, claimed the scan results were “perfect” but stated he was unsure what part of his body was scanned, clarifying it was “not the brain” as he “aced” a cognitive test.
The exchange comes after Walz publicly questioned Trump’s physical and mental acuity, citing late-night social media posts and suggesting a decline in the former president’s capabilities. The governor’s comments prompted a sharp rebuke from Trump, who both defended his use of derogatory language toward Walz and asserted his own fitness. this debate underscores ongoing scrutiny of candidates’ health as the 2024 presidential election cycle intensifies, a matter of public interest given the demanding nature of the office.
Trump stated, “If they want to release it, It’s okay with me to release it.” He also referred to Walz as “incompetent” and defended calling the Minnesota Governor “seriously retarded” in a Thanksgiving Day social media post, saying, “I think there’s something wrong with him.”
In a Sunday interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Walz questioned the plausibility of Trump’s claim of not knowing the purpose of the MRI, stating, “Has anyone in the history of the world ever had an MRI assigned to them and have no idea what it was for, as he says?” Walz further expressed concern over what he described as Trump’s “fading physically” and “ranting…crazily,” adding, “We have someone, at midnight, throwing around slurs that demonize our children. And at the time,he’s not solving any of the problems. So I am deeply concerned that he is incapable of doing the job.”
