NIA Conducts Raids in J&K Linked to Delhi Blast Investigation
Srinagar - The national Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday, 2024/05/08, initiated searches at eight locations across Jammu and Kashmir as part of its ongoing investigation into the march 23rd blast in Delhi’s Connaught Place. The raids are focused on identifying and apprehending individuals linked to the incident,which injured at least one person and triggered a heightened security alert in the capital.
The NIA’s investigation centers on alleged connections to Jasir bilal Wani, a suspect believed to have ties to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group. A search is currently underway at Wani’s residence in the Pulwama district. This operation signifies a broadening of the probe beyond initial suspects identified in Delhi, indicating a potential network extending into the Kashmir Valley. The NIA is seeking to uncover the source of funding, logistical support, and the broader conspiracy behind the Delhi explosion.
According to officials,the NIA is gathering evidence related to the planning and execution of the blast,and also any potential future threats. The agency has registered a case under sections of the Indian Penal code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to investigate the matter thoroughly. The searches aim to seize incriminating materials, electronic devices, and documents that could provide leads in the case. The NIA’s actions underscore the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring national security.
