The Golden state Warriors are set to add veteran guard Seth Curry, sources told ESPN Monday. The signing will fill the team’s 15th roster spot for the remainder of the season.
This move allows the Curry brothers to finally realize a long-held ambition of playing together on the same NBA team. While the timing is complicated by Stephen Curry’s current injury, the addition of Seth provides a significant boost to the Warriors’ perimeter shooting and depth as they navigate the season.
Seth Curry initially joined the Warriors in training camp but was waived due to the team’s financial constraints as a hard-capped team. Golden State operates under the second apron, limiting them to 14 players at the start of the season to maintain financial flexibility.
The wait for Seth and Stephen Curry to share the court will be delayed, as Stephen is currently sidelined wiht a left quad strain and is expected to be reevaluated within the coming week. He currently leads the 11-10 Warriors in scoring, averaging 27.9 points per game.
Seth Curry, entering his 12th NBA season, began his professional journey with the Warriors’ G League affiliate in Santa Cruz before intentionally pursuing opportunities with 10 other NBA teams to establish his own identity outside of his brother’s success, he has stated.
Throughout his career, Seth Curry has proven to be one of the league’s most efficient shooters, having made 945 career 3-pointers at a 43.3% clip – the seventh-highest percentage in NBA history. Last season, he led the NBA in 3-point shooting, connecting on 45.6% of his attempts.
Last summer, Seth Curry determined the timing was right to join Stephen, fulfilling a long-held desire for the brothers to play together at the NBA level.
