Stuart Park Ice Rink opens wednesday, Encouraging Donations for Local Charities
KELOWNA, BC – Kelowna‘s beloved outdoor ice rink at Stuart Park is set to open to the public Wednesday morning, weather permitting, kicking off the winter skating season and a charitable drive to support those in need. The opening event invites residents to celebrate a Kelowna winter tradition while contributing to the Central Okanagan Food Bank and The Salvation Army with donations of non-perishable food items or new, unwrapped toys.
The rink’s annual opening is a significant community event, offering free outdoor recreation for families and individuals throughout the winter months. This year, the city is amplifying the rink’s positive impact by partnering with local charities as many families face increased financial pressures during the holiday season. Even a small contribution can provide vital support, according to Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas, who stated, “This event is a chance to enjoy one of Kelowna’s favorite winter traditions while helping our community…The holidays are a season of giving, even a small donation can make a meaningful difference for a family this season.”
For those wishing to donate but unable to skate, a drop-off zone will be available beside the rink on Water Street. Skates will be available for rent on-site daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the exception of december 25. Rentals are cash only. Visitors are reminded to adhere to posted rink regulations and are strongly encouraged to wear helmets for safety.
The rink will be accessible from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, with a delayed opening of 8 a.m. on Mondays to allow for ice maintenance. Current rink conditions can be viewed via a live still-image camera at
