Daddy Yankee Files Federal Lawsuit Against Raphy Pina and ex-Wife‌ Mireddys González Over Alleged Royalty Scheme

San ‍Juan, Puerto ‍Rico – Daddy Yankee has filed a federal ‌lawsuit against music producer Raphy Pina and his former wife, Mireddys González, alleging a scheme to defraud him out of royalties, according to court ⁤documents.Teh lawsuit ‌centers ⁣around accusations ⁢of intimidation, violence, and manipulation⁢ of song authorship credits to ‌divert funds.

The complaint details allegations‍ that Pina Nieves, ⁣while controlling El Cartel Records, ‍used “physical intimidation tactics and acts of violence to ⁣maintain control ⁤of the artists.” lawyers ‍for Daddy Yankee assert that Pina “routinely ⁤pulled out ⁢firearms during meetings to reinforce his dominance ⁤and to discourage dissent, in addition to humiliating or physically attacking individuals in the presence of third parties to use them as ‌an⁣ example.” They further claim Pina cultivated “an habitat of⁣ constant ‌threat, ensuring that artists and associates remained obedient out of fear‍ for their safety⁤ and well-being.”

Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that between 2004 and 2005, ⁤individuals‍ acting⁤ on Pina Nieves’ orders used firearms to intimidate and attack Juan A. Ortiz García, known as Sir Speedy. ‍

The⁣ legal action also claims Pina ⁤and González coordinated to falsely claim co-authorship of multiple songs, assigning themselves percentages of⁤ royalties.Evidence ⁤cited includes emails allegedly showing this‌ coordination. Hundreds of emails⁢ were reportedly deleted from González castellanos’ account, which ‌the lawsuit suggests contained evidence ⁣of⁣ the alleged scheme.

The lawsuit comes amidst a high-profile divorce ‍between Daddy Yankee and⁤ Mireddys González, finalized in February 2025 after 29 years of marriage,‌ which involves dividing a⁣ significant community property estimated to be in the millions.

Separately, Ayala Rodríguez currently maintains ‍a state-level lawsuit against the González Castellanos sisters for alleged ⁣negligent management of the companies El Cartel Records,‌ inc., and Los‌ Cangris, Inc.
