Indian Idol 16 to Stage Special Tribute Honoring Dharmendra
Mumbai, India – November 30, 2024 – Indian idol 16 will dedicate a special episode to the memory of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, 2024, following a period of health complications. The tribute will air December 7, 2024, on Sony Entertainment Television, celebrating his prolific career and enduring legacy in Indian cinema.
The episode aims to honor Dharmendra’s significant contributions to Bollywood, acknowledging the profound loss felt by the industry and his devoted fans. Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and fellow actor, recently shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, stating, “Dharam ji. He was many things to me. Loving husband,adoring father of our two girls,Esha & Ahaana,freind,philosopher,guide,poet.” She continued, “My personal loss is indescribable and the vacuum created is something that will last through the rest of my life.”
Dharmendra, who had been battling age-related ailments, was briefly hospitalized in Mumbai in mid-November before his condition deteriorated. His funeral drew a large gathering of Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Abhishek Bachchan.
Despite his passing, Dharmendra’s final cinematic appearance will be in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, scheduled for release on December 25, 2024. The film features Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat alongside the posthumous performance of the veteran actor. Indian Idol 16‘s tribute promises a moving musical homage to a cinematic icon.
