Gunn Details Packed Daily Schedule as DC Universe Takes shape
BURBANK, CA – James Gunn is deeply immersed in teh development of the DC Universe, balancing pre-production on multiple films and series concurrently. The DC Studios co-CEO recently offered a glimpse into his demanding daily routine, revealing the breadth of projects currently vying for his attention.
Gunn shared his insights on Threads,explaining that no two days are alike as he navigates the complex landscape of the evolving DC slate. His work encompasses everything from storyboarding and casting to reviewing cuts and overseeing marketing,demonstrating the hands-on approach he’s taking to rebuild the DC film and television universe.
Currently, a significant portion of Gunn’s time is dedicated to “Man of Tomorrow,” with focus on storyboarding, department meetings, location scouting, and casting. He’s also actively reviewing cuts of “Supergirl” and “Lanterns,” providing feedback on scripts, and supporting the production of “The Batman part II.” He eagerly anticipates the first cut of “Clayface” and is involved in approving designs for various elements across all projects.
Recent screenings at HBO Max’s Upfront event in São Paulo, Brazil, offered a first look at footage from the upcoming “lanterns” series.Reports from Omelete indicate the footage featured Hal Jordan in flight, a “western” aesthetic with prominent brown tones, and a mention of Ch’p. The series will explore a dynamic between John Stewart and Hal Jordan, with jordan portrayed as a “substitute teacher” figure.
The DC Universe’s rollout is scheduled to begin in 2026 with “Supergirl” hitting theaters on June 26th, followed by “Clayface” on September 11th, and “Lanterns” sometime during the summer. 2027 will see the release of “Man of Tomorrow” on July 9th and ”The Batman Part II” on October 1st.
