Model and Wellness Advocate Agnieszka Maciąg Dies After Cancer Battle
Warsaw, Poland – Agnieszka Maciąg, a prominent Polish model and author known for her work promoting healthy living, has passed away after a recurrence of cancer. Maciąg, who largely kept her health struggles private, informed only a small circle of fans through a webinar group about the return of the disease.
Maciąg’s personal experience with cancer ran deep, having lost her father to the illness. She publicly discussed a period of intense hardship in 2006, marked by her father’s death, marital difficulties, chronic illness, and a profound sense of fear. “My father died of cancer, I was going through a crisis in my marriage, I saw no point in my work and I was chronically ill. I didn’t want to live,” she confessed in an interview with Viva! magazine. “This crisis made me fall to my knees and start praying for help. Before 2006, I was afraid of literally everything… I was one big fear.”
Maciąg credited a shift in perspective, achieved through confronting her fears and embracing spirituality, with transforming her life. “I had previously studied psychology and had the impression that I already knew everything about everything. And yet I was entirely unable to cope with myself,” she told Viva!. “But this prayer opened a new life for me! Today I accept what is happening in the world because I am convinced that there is wisdom and meaning in everything.”
Beyond her wellness advocacy, Maciąg was a muse for the Polish band De Mono in the 1990s, appearing in approximately ten of their music videos. Andrzej Krzywy of De Mono described her as “a splendid, wonderful, modest person” and “one of the most interesting and stunning Polish models,” emphasizing their joyful and productive working relationship.
