Alianza Lima Secures Goalkeeper Alejandro Duarte from Sporting Cristal for 2026 Season
Lima, Peru – In a notable move ahead of the 2026 Liga 1 season, Alianza Lima has reached a verbal agreement with Sporting Cristal goalkeeper Alejandro Duarte, according too journalist Gerson Cuba. The acquisition aims to bolster AlianzaS squad as they challenge Universitario de Deportes’ potential four-peat championship run.
Duarte, who arrived at Sporting Cristal in 2021, will join Alianza Lima as a free agent with his current contract expiring at the end of this month. He saw limited playing time in the 2025 season, appearing in two of 18 apertura Tournament matches and receiving no starts in the Clausura.
“Alejandro Duarte has a verbal agreement with Alianza Lima for 2026.He will be the third reinforcement,” Cuba reported via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The 30-year-old Duarte brings a wealth of experience from previous stints with Bayer Leverkusen U17, Juan aurich, cienciano, Deportivo Municipal, San Martín, Lobos BUAP (Mexico), FC Juárez (Mexico), Zacatepec (Mexico), Luqueño (Paraguay), and LD Alajuelense (Costa Rica). His arrival is expected to add competition for the starting goalkeeper position, potentially replacing Ángelo Campos alongside Guillermo Viscarra.
