Sadiq Khan Urges Apology from Nigel Farage amidst Racism Allegations
LONDON – London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called on nigel Farage to apologise following allegations of racist behaviour during his teenage years, stating Farage’s refusal to do so reveals a troubling character flaw for someone seeking public office. The call for accountability comes as the government has publicly addressed the claims reported by The Guardian.
Farage has vehemently denied the allegations, stating on November 26, 2025, “I can tell you categorically that I did not say the things that have been published in the Guardian aged 13, nearly 50 years ago.” Though, Khan voiced support for those who came forward with the accusations, asserting they were “right to speak out.” He countered Farage’s attempt to dismiss the incidents as youthful indiscretion, noting the lasting impact on those who witnessed the alleged behaviour.
The controversy centers on claims published by The Guardian detailing alleged racist remarks made by farage as a 13-year-old. The government’s response to the claims, reported on November 20, 2025, has led Farage to suggest the allegations are politically motivated.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer underscored the gravity of the situation during a visit to Bushey United Synagogue in Hertsmere on Thursday, november 26, 2025.Starmer recounted conversations with Jewish students and young people who shared their experiences with antisemitism, emphasizing the profound and lasting impact of such abuse. “it is really difficult for them to even talk about it,and I know they’re going to carry that for years and years; this is not just something that can be passed over,” he stated, adding that the allegations against Farage are “serious” and “affect human beings in a visceral way.”
