kliment Commits Future to Olomouc Despite Injury, Cites Club’s Vision
Olomouc, Czech Republic – July 22, 2025 – Forward Jan Kliment has reaffirmed his commitment to SK Sigma Olomouc, signing a contract extension despite recently suffering a broken leg. The decision comes after discussions with the club’s new management regarding their plans for future advancement.
“Olomouc is my home. The city and the club are already like family to me,” Kliment stated on the club’s website. “After an injury, one thinks about what and how it will be. Is it not time to move somewhere else. I made the final decision to stay after listening to how the new management thinks about the development and future of Sigma. We want to play regularly in Europe and move Olomouc into the company of top Czech clubs. I believe that it can be done and I see no reason to leave elsewhere. I am staying at home and I will do my best for the team, the club and the fans,as always.”
Kliment, 32, joined Olomouc prior to the 2024/25 season after a stint with Pilsen. His career includes spells with jihlava, Bánská Bystrica, Stuttgart (two periods), Bröndby Copenhagen, Slovácko, and Krakow. He quickly established himself as a key player for Sigma, becoming the league’s top scorer in his first season with 18 goals in 18 matches, earning him a call-up to the national team and contributing to the club’s MOL Cup victory – were he scored against Slavia Prague in the quarter-final.
He sustained a broken leg during the MOL Cup semi-final against Baník Ostrava in April and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
“We are excited about the fact that we managed to agree on a contract extension with Honza,” said general sports manager Pavel Hapal. “After his long injury, he is almost fit and we are convinced that he will soon help us directly on the field during matches and that he will be as beneficial as he was last season, an extremely successful season for sigma.”
