Lyrical Recital Highlights Music’s Role in fostering European Unity

MADRID, Nov. 28 (EUROPA PRESS) – A lyrical recital held this Thursday at the Centro Riojano in Madrid, organized by European Parliament Member Esther Herranz (EPP group), underscored the power of music adn poetry to build cultural bridges within the European Union. The event drew a significant audience of members and guests to la Lengua hall.

Soprano María Crespo, accompanied by pianist Jesús López and writer José María Muñoz Quirós, presented a performance themed “Dreams, loves and destinies,” exploring the emotional depth of the female voice.

Herranz expressed gratitude for the audience’s engagement and emphasized the vital role of arts in the EU, stating, “poetry and music act as cultural bridges capable of uniting diverse communities around shared values.”

She further elaborated on the EU’s commitment to supporting these artistic expressions,explaining,”through festivals,educational projects and cultural cooperation programs,these artistic languages ​​encourage intercultural dialog,strengthen the sense of European identity and promote creativity as a driver of social and economic innovation. Furthermore, the protection and dissemination of european musical heritage contributes to preserving traditions.”

Looking ahead, Herranz announced plans for a second concert at the Centro Riojano in Madrid next month. This upcoming event will feature Christmas carols performed with flamenco influences by Riojan singer Carlos Pérez Pascual, continuing the theme of celebrating a shared “European soul.”
