CPK Airport Construction Set to Advance with Permit Request

Baranów,Poland – The Central Poland Airport (CPK) project is moving forward,with⁢ the CPK company expected to submit an application for a construction permit within the next several days,according to Minister ⁣of Infrastructure⁣ Dariusz Klimczak. The proclamation, made Wednesday at⁤ the Civil Aviation Security and Development Congress, signals the imminent start of contractor selection for foundational construction work.

“many areas ‌today have their own physical ‍shape and specific legal ‌framework. Within a few​ days, we will⁤ submit an application for a building permit. This construction is physically taking place,” ​Klimczak stated.The company previously secured ‍a location decision for the airport.

Construction⁢ is‍ currently slated⁢ to‍ begin in 2027, with a projected‍ completion date of late 2032.The project encompasses ‌not ​only the airport itself, but‍ also a connecting ​railway​ junction and a high-speed rail line linking Warsaw, CPK, and Łódź. The total estimated cost of the⁣ investment is PLN 131 billion.

the⁣ airport is designed to initially accommodate approximately 34 million passengers annually, with provisions for future expansion.‍ This capacity surpasses the‌ 18.5 ​million passengers served by Warsaw Chopin Airport in⁢ 2023. CPK anticipates roughly 40% of passengers will be transfers.

The planned passenger terminal will span approximately 450,000 square meters and ‍feature three levels dedicated to passenger services:‍ Schengen and some non-Schengen arrivals and departures on Level ​+2, non-schengen arrivals⁤ and departures and transfer centers on Level‌ +1, and Schengen ⁣and Non-Schengen bus gates and baggage claim on Level 0. The airport will initially be capable of handling up to 11,000 passengers per hour, with nearly ‍140 check-in counters planned for opening day, expandable to 170.
