Austin FC today unveiled details for the 2024 El Arbolito Cup, a showcase tournament for its U-13 and U-14 academy teams, set to take place December 12-14 at St. David’s Performance Center.
The fifth annual event will feature competition between Austin FC and seven other Major League Soccer academy clubs: Chicago Fire FC, colorado Rapids, FC Cincinnati, Houston Dynamo FC, inter Miami CF, Orlando City SC, and St. Louis City SC. The tournament provides a crucial development opportunity for young players within the Austin FC system and a platform to compete against top talent from across the league.
Each team will participate in four group stage matches, followed by a fifth match resolute by their performance in the initial round. U-13 matches will consist of two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime, while U-14 games will be two 35-minute halves with a 5-minute break. Tournament champions will be crowned on Sunday,December 14.
Austin FC’s U-14 team will face opponents from Chicago, Miami, St. Louis, and Cincinnati during the group stage. The U-13 squad will compete against teams from Cincinnati, Houston, Chicago, and Orlando.
