Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan Calls for a Battle of the Bands: Goose vs. Geese
Los Angeles, CA - Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has proposed a musical showdown between bands Goose and Geese, suggesting a “winner takes all” contest. The suggestion came during a recent appearance on the youtube series Track Star, where Corgan was challenged to identify artists based solely on their music.
When presented with GeeseS song “Au Pays du Cocaine,” Corgan initially noted a “Springsteen thing going on.” After learning the band’s name, he clarified he wasn’t referring to the similarly named Goose and then jokingly advocated for a competitive resolution between the two. This playful suggestion arrives as both bands continue to gain prominence in the indie music scene, with Geese recently releasing their album Getting Killed in September and Goose dropping Chain Yer Dragon in August.
Corgan’s comments follow a recent endorsement of Geese from Nick Cave, who lauded their song “Trinidad” and the feelings it evoked. Geese are currently touring in support of Getting Killed, with upcoming dates scheduled for 2026 including an appearance at Coachella, and across Australia, Japan, Europe, and the UK.
