NSW Storms Cause Damage, Power Outages Across Inland New South Wales

Dubbo’s Service NSW ⁢Center​ is closed⁢ due to damaging⁣ winds as severe weather impacts inland New‌ South Wales, prompting widespread warnings adn⁣ emergency‍ service responses. The ⁢NSW State Emergency Service (SES) has​ been inundated ‍with calls for assistance over the past 24 hours as storms sweep across‍ the state’s west⁤ and Riverina regions.

The SES has responded to 24 jobs ⁣since Monday afternoon in the Western Zone,​ including 14 in Wentworth, three ‍in Wellington – one involving​ a branch on a powerline – and two⁤ in Broken Hill. Crews have also handled 40 jobs⁤ across the‍ Riverina.

A car ​in coomealla,⁢ south-west NSW, sustained meaningful damage ⁤after being⁣ struck by a fallen tree branch⁢ during the storms.

The SES is advising residents in Dubbo, Wellington, Narromine, Gilgandra and ⁢peak Hill to prepare for​ continued disruptions through Tuesday evening, securing loose items and ​avoiding parking under trees or powerlines.

“Our teams are preparing for the next few days‌ with‍ the ⁢NSW Bureau ​of meteorology forecasting⁤ storms to continue through to​ Thursday evening,” SES spokesperson Kiara Magnussen saeid.

Residents‌ are encouraged to download the Hazards Near Me app and ​set‍ up watch locations for real-time ​warnings.
