Daegu High School’s Kim Minjun Named Baseball Grand Prize Winner at 2025 Futures star Awards
SEOUL, November 15, 2025 – Kim Minjun of Daegu High school has been awarded the grand prize at the ‘2025 Futures Star Awards’ for his extraordinary performance in baseball.The awards ceremony, recognizing rising talent in baseball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball, will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025, in the press conference room on the 19th floor of the Korea Press Center in Seoul.
Kim was lauded for his powerful fastball. Scouts noted, “It’s close to an instant sense of power.”
Fellow award contender Eom Jun-sang, a shortstop, was praised for his arm strength, high batting speed, home run hitting ability, excellent recovery ability, and stable fielding skills.Scouts observed he is strong at attacking fastballs and demonstrates long hitting power.
A total of 14 athletes across four sports will be honored, with two grand prize winners, six Star Awards recipients, and six Future Star Awards recipients.the grand prize winner receives 3 million won, the Star Award a sports goods and carrier set exchange voucher, and the future Star Award a sports goods exchange voucher.
The baseball selection committee includes Kim In-sik (former national team coach and committee chairman), Cha Myeong-joo (Korea Baseball Softball Association Performance Improvement Committee chairman), Jeong Min-hyuk (Hanwha Eagles scout team leader), and Hyun Cheol-min (SSG Landers scout team partner).
