Chicago Magnificent Mile Lights Parade: Date, Route & Fireworks Details

Magnificent Mile Lights Festival parade to Illuminate​ Chicago Saturday

chicago’s holiday season​ officially kicks off Saturday night with ⁣the Magnificent Mile Lights ⁣Festival Parade, recognized as the nation’s ⁣largest nighttime parade. After a frigid event last year, attendees can⁣ look forward to more pleasant weather this time around.

The festival began ⁤earlier in the day at 11 a.m., but the highlight – the parade – will begin at 5:30 ⁤p.m. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will lead the procession south from Oak street ⁤and Michigan ⁢Avenue, activating over one million lights ‍adorning 200 trees along the route.

Those planning‍ to attend should be aware that the parade route‍ extends from Oak ⁤Street to Illinois Street. The DuSable Bridge will close as early as 3 p.m.‌ to prepare for the event, impacting both spectators and those navigating the downtown area.

The parade will feature ‌a diverse lineup of performers, including bands and musical groups from across the country.Notably, Chicago’s own Leo High School Choir, recently celebrated for their appearance on “America’s Got Talent,” will be performing. Other scheduled acts include the South Shore Drill Team, Plain White T’s, and Voices of Liberty.

The evening wouldn’t be complete‌ without a visit from Santa claus, who will make his grand entrance aboard Wintrust’s Grand​ Finale Float.‍ He will also be available to greet children ⁢and hear ​their⁢ Christmas wishes.

Following the parade, the celebration will ‌continue with the Wintrust Fireworks Spectacular, lighting up the sky‌ over the Chicago River near‍ the DuSable Bridge.
