“ghi So Bass” Reunion Set for December 5th, Celebrating Termoli‘s Historic Fishing Tradition
Termoli, Italy – A revival of the ancient fishing tradition known as “Basso di Termoli” is set to formally launch on December 5th, with registered participants receiving official summons to participate. The initiative, spearheaded by Michele Trombetta, aims to reconnect the community with its maritime heritage and preserve a unique cultural practice.
The “Basso di Termoli,” a traditional method of communal fishing utilizing a large seine net, has deep roots in the coastal town’s identity. After a period of decline, efforts to revive the practice gained momentum, culminating in a registration phase for interested individuals. The December 5th event will not only mark the official commencement of the renewed tradition but will also include a “symbolic baptism” to celebrate the identity of “Low thermolesion” – a nod to the technique’s reliance on lower water temperatures.
trombetta expressed his enthusiasm for the project, concluding with a celebratory call: “Long live the Basso di Termoli!” The reunion promises to reignite a cherished aspect of Termoli’s cultural landscape and foster a renewed sense of community around its maritime history.
