Gulls Suffer Overtime Loss to Firebirds, Extend Point Streak to Seven Games
Palm Springs, CA – The San Diego Gulls saw their impressive streak of earning points in consecutive games halted at seven after a 3-2 overtime defeat against the Coachella Valley Firebirds Friday night at Acrisure Arena. Despite the setback, San Diego continues to demonstrate resilience, having secured standings points in nine of their last ten contests.

San Diego ignited the scoring early with a powerplay goal from right winger Yegor Sidorov, ending a five-game goal drought for the forward. Ryan Carpenter and Roland McKeown assisted on the play. Shortly after, Sasha Pastujov capitalized on another powerplay opportunity, extending the Gulls’ lead to 2-0.Ville Husso, in goal for san Diego, also registered an assist on Pastujov’s goal, alongside McKeown who secured his second point of the night.
coachella Valley responded with goals in the second and third periods, ultimately forcing the game into overtime. The Firebirds then secured the victory with a goal early in the extra frame.
Sidorov has now registered 1-3=4 points in his last three games, while Pastujov has logged 3-3=6 points over his past four appearances.
The Gulls (4-0-3-0 in their last seven, 5-1-4-0 in their last ten) will return to San Diego to face the Calgary Wranglers at Pechanga Arena on Saturday at 6 p.m. PT.
