Breaking: Texas Braces for Dramatic Temperature Drop, Increased Rain Chances Leading into Thanksgiving
A powerful cold front is poised to sweep across Texas this week, bringing considerably cooler temperatures and a heightened risk of rain, possibly impacting Thanksgiving travel and festivities. Residents from North Texas to the Hill Country should prepare for a stark contrast to the recent unseasonably warm weather.
The first wave of cooler air is already bringing increased rain chances, fluctuating between 20% and 90% throughout the week and weekend, with Thursday and Friday facing the highest probabilities.A second, more potent cold front is expected to arrive Tuesday night, driving temperatures down even further. This shift means North Texas could see temperatures in the mid-60s by the time Thanksgiving dinner is served midday.
San Antonio and South Central Texas are also under the gun, with a flood watch in affect from midnight Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. While storm odds are expected throughout the weekend, the region will also experience a cooldown after days approaching 90 degrees, with weekend highs peaking around 80 degrees and evenings dipping into the mid-60s.
The most significant temperature drop will occur early next week.Following the rain, the days leading up to Thanksgiving in San Antonio are forecast to be sunny with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s. This marks a substantial change from the warmer temperatures experienced earlier in the week and offers a welcome respite from the humidity.
