Concord House Fire: Squatter Activity Suspected After Sale Listing

Fire Damages ⁣Vacant​ Concord ⁢Home Recently listed for Sale

CONCORD, CA – A fire caused significant damage to a vacant home in ​Concord early Friday morning, just one day after it was listed for sale.

Firefighters responded to a blaze at 3155 San Ramon Road, near Willow Pass Community Park, at 1:28 a.m., according ​to Contra costa ⁢County Fire Protection ⁣District ⁣Captain⁣ Ted Leach. Crews extinguished the flames within approximately 20‌ minutes. PG&E crews were dispatched to address downed power lines in the area.

The single-story house had been unoccupied for some time and neighbors had reported concerns⁣ about potential squatters, Leach stated. The cause of ⁤the fire remains​ under investigation, and a portion of the structure collapsed consequently of⁣ the blaze.

Matthew Hutchens, the real estate agent handling the sale for an estate, listed the property on Thursday.He ‍learned of the fire overnight. “We have had an issue with squatters,” Hutchens said. “We ​think that someone must’ve gotten in ‌last night, one of the colder nights.”

Despite the ‌damage, Hutchens reported⁤ continued interest in the⁢ property. “Investors are still looking at it as a brand new build,” he noted.
