Chelsea’s Cole Palmer Suffers Toe Fracture in Home Accident, Ruled Out of Upcoming Matches
Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, 23, will miss the club’s next three fixtures after fracturing a toe in an accident at home, manager Enzo Maresca confirmed Friday. The injury complicates Palmer’s recovery from a two-month absence due to a groin injury.
“Regrettably he had a little accident at home. He kicked his toe but it’s nothing serious but he won’t be back next week without a doubt,” Maresca said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley. “It’s lame, but not too much. The problem is that it’s a little toe, so in football boots the contact with the shoe can be quite painful.”
Palmer was nearing a return from the groin injury before the incident. Chelsea is scheduled to host Barcelona in the Champions League next week, followed by a Premier League match against Arsenal at the weekend.
“Such things happen,” Maresca added.”I’ve also woken up many times in the night and hit my head, my leg, everywhere on the way to the toilet.”
