Johannes Høsflot Klæbo Takes Break, Eyes Future Olympic Pursuit
Norwegian cross-country skiing star Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is taking a intentional step back from competition, aiming to recharge after a dominant run of six gold medals at the recent Trondheim event. The decision comes as Klæbo prepares for a potential bid for Olympic glory, with coaches and teammates expressing confidence in his continued motivation.
The break is intended to allow Klæbo to experience life outside the intense world of professional sports, fostering a lasting balance crucial for long-term success. While his recent performance has been exceptional, maintaining peak condition requires more than just athletic prowess; it demands mental and emotional well-being. Coach Emil Iversen believes Klæbo will return with renewed focus, stating, “From now on, we will see another stubborn Johannes.I’m not worried about his motivation.”
Iversen added, “If we want to see him on track going forward, without him becoming a complete cocoon, then he will benefit from doing somthing outside of sports as well.”
the cross-country season is set to resume with a classic sprint at Beitostølen on Friday at 11:00 local time.
