Baltimore County Launches “Baltimore County Builds” Initiative to Streamline growth & Fuel ⁤economic Growth

TOWSON,MD – Baltimore‍ County has launched ‌”Baltimore ‍County Builds,” a thorough initiative designed to modernize its development and ​permitting processes,aiming to accelerate housing development,support small ⁢businesses,and encourage community investment. County Executive Kathy klausmeier⁤ announced the program,emphasizing its core‌ mission: to improve government responsiveness and simplify interactions for residents and businesses.

The multi-year effort​ centers around three key pillars – technology⁢ modernization, process⁤ efficiency, and regulatory updates -​ and represents a notable overhaul⁤ of⁢ the county’s approach ⁢to development. “Baltimore County‍ Builds is about making government work better for the people we⁢ serve,” Klausmeier stated. “From getting a permit approved to helping small businesses ‍grow,we’re making⁣ the development process simpler and more⁤ responsive.”

The initiative’s technology ‍component ​will focus on ⁢transitioning to a new permitting portal powered by Accela.The first phase, slated for launch ⁣in late summer 2026, will encompass plumbing, ⁢gas, electrical permits, and trade licenses. Concurrently, the county is streamlining its ⁤development review process to create smoother pathways for residents and builders.

Recent legislative action underscores the ​initiative’s⁤ commitment to⁣ local economic‌ growth. The County Council recently ⁣approved legislation allowing artisan and small-scale manufacturing ​within designated Commercial ⁣Revitalization Districts – a move designed to ⁢foster‍ entrepreneurship and diversify the local‌ economy.
