Paramount Wins UK Champions League Rights in Landmark Deal

London – Paramount Global has secured the rights to broadcast the majority of UEFA Champions League, Europa League, adn Europa Conference league matches in the United Kingdom from the 2027-2031 cycle, in a deal signaling growing American investment in european football ahead of next summer’s world Cup. The winning bids accepted in the recent auction demonstrate increasing American interest in the sport.

UEFA is confident the deals will deliver a significant increase on the current £2.9bn-a-year value of TV rights for the three-year cycle. the auction marked the first tender process run for UEFA by US-owned agency Relevent Football Partners, which replaced Team Marketing as the governing body’s sales partner last year. UC3 and Relevent have implemented changes including a pan-European streaming package and extending the rights cycle to four years.

The deals are seen by UEFA as validating the newly remodelled Champions League format, featuring an extended league stage and a single 36-team table.
