Kristen Bell,Josh Gad,and Idina Menzel reportedly received a combined $60 million for their work on the “Frozen” sequels, according to documents revealed in the ongoing Disney legal battle with former CEO Bob Chapek. The substantial payout underscores the immense value Disney places on the voice talent behind its blockbuster animated franchise.
The figures, disclosed as part of the lawsuit filed by Chapek against Disney, detail the compensation packages for the stars of “Frozen 2” and the upcoming “Frozen 3.” Menzel allegedly earned $15 million for “Frozen 2,” while Bell and Gad each received $8 million. For “frozen 3,” Menzel is slated to receive $20 million, with Bell and Gad each earning $10 million, bringing the total to $60 million. This details surfaced amid Chapek’s claim that Disney executives undermined his efforts to cut costs and streamline operations, and highlights the significant financial commitments the company makes to secure key talent for its tentpole properties.
The documents show Menzel’s initial “Frozen” contract included royalty participation, which increased her earnings substantially with the sequel’s success. Gad and Bell’s contracts did not include such participation. The revelation of these figures provides a rare glimpse into the financial arrangements within the highly lucrative world of animated film voice acting, and demonstrates the negotiating power of established stars in major franchises. ”Frozen 3″ is currently in development and is expected to release sometime in 2027.
