Fifth Death Reported at Disney world in One month
ORLANDO, FL – A fifth person has died at a Disney World property in teh past month, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to TMZ. The latest death occurred November 8 at the Saratoga Springs resort, with limited details currently available.
This incident marks an unusual surge in deaths at the Florida theme park and its resorts. Over the last six weeks, Disney World has experienced a cluster of fatalities, raising questions about potential contributing factors. The park welcomes over 58 million visitors annually across its parks and 36 resorts.
The recent deaths include two suicides at the Contemporary Resort – a woman on October 14 and a man on October 23. Additionally, a man in his 60s experienced a medical episode at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground on October 21, and a woman in her 60s died November 2 after a medical emergency at disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Across the country, a woman in her 60s died october 6 after a medical incident while riding the Haunted Manor attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim.Theme park expert dennis Spiegel told the L.A. times that the ride’s safety was not a factor, stating, “It’s much safer to ride Space Mountain or any ride at Disneyland for a month straight than to drive one day on the 405 Freeway.”
Disney Dining blog speculates the increased attention to these incidents is due to ”a combination of real-time emergency call tracking, hyper-engaged fan communities, and heightened online visibility” bringing more awareness to events that may have gone less noticed in the past.
While dozens of people have died at Disney parks and resorts over the years, primarily from natural causes, the concentration of deaths in such a short period has prompted increased scrutiny.
